Malaybalayan, Senior Citizen, a Commencement Speaker

March 29 is a red-letter day for this Senior Citizen, also Teacher of a State University. She will grace the Graduation Exercises of Malaybalay Central Elementary School Pupils as Commencement Speaker. Following the Department of Education's lead, she will be guided by their theme: "Your Gift of Learning, Our Tool for Nation Building."  At this point the following original poem addressed to the graduates will be shared for the whole world to know how happy she is, she will speak to the batch of graduates, who reminds her of her own way back 1962, as in 1962.

GIFT OF LEARNING THEN AND NOW and shared to Malaybalay City Central School Graduates
                      by Reina Sabana Aserios

When did I make it as an elementary graduate?
Very long ago, yet never left it as mate
High School came I kept best in my heart
College was soon over and a job was its comfort.

Then the time came when I found my love
Before long, four talented gifts completed the move
Now they are all grown and on their own
Parenthood is difficult but worth the wait when won.

Now that I am given the opportunity to share
March 29 is one date recorded with care
Will these hundreds of graduates who heard me today
Make it to high school and on to college and fulfill their own destiny?

Graduates, Parents, mentors and fellow human beings
Let us join hands as share the gift of learning
All these will go back to our community and Yes
It will redound to nation building as God blesses!!

Note: After March 29, I will print here the copy of my Commencement speech. Till then.
