Sometimes our eyes stay focused on looking afar; we criticize political clans because power revolves around them. Many of us watch these people win in elections because they happen to carry the name. When they turn out to be good leaders, lucky for us but when they are just empty "eggheads" unfortunate for us.
Malaybalayan has a political figure in mind. One time we approached him because he had the reputation of being "airy" about giving even if what he gives is really people's money. What we forgot to take along with us were photographers to document his handing over whatever he will give - yes, photographers. So since there were no kleig lights, he was so brutal in saying no - no more funds, and definitely he could not help.
We heard he will run as a mayor and God forbid, should he win, the city hall will be the last place we can ever visit. He has the built to look big, sound big and has the name to boot.
Political dynasties, they are everywhere; Malaybalay has them too!
Election month is 5 months away. Make sure you take it your solemn duty to separate the
leader material in the politician and the family name he uses to put on like security blanket. Please, let us have no more "Ampatuans look alike". Do you recognize him?
