Malaybalay has many DDUs: depressed, deprived, underserved barangays.

National Service Training Program has three components: Literacy Training Service, Civic Welfare Training Service and Reserve Officers Training Corps. Malaybalayan happens to be the coordinator of NSTP-Literacy Training Service so it was providential that the training on Basic Literacy given by the director of Alternative Learning Systes was given today, January 23, 2010, Saturday.

This seminar-workshop was made possible through the director of the Extension Unit of Bukidnon State University with the support of its president, Dr. Victor M. Barroso. The extension director, Dr. Estela Itaas invited the Supervisor of Alternative Learning Systems, Ms. Helen Arancon. Indeed, it was a very informative yet fun-filled day.

Expect all the extensionists to be more prepared when they hold their immersion activities. In the case of Malaybalay City, for example, NSTP has decided to go to the DDUs in Malaybalay City. DDUs refer to Deprived, Depressed, Underserved barangays. Unfortunately, Malaybalay has many DDUs so Malaybalayan and her students in LTS 2, will go to Sunflower, Kalasungay Bukidnon to meet the members of the purok. Some photos will follow when the undertaking will be realized.

Are their DDUs in your place? Are their initiatives to help them? Please share with Malaybalayan all these activities.
