When I was six, sixty seemed ancient . . .

Once upon a time, I was six. Then, I began my grade one and the world of schooling. While not all the details remained as clear as I wanted it to be, I could still remember that one of the reasons I was accepted in Grade I was because my right hand extended over my head up to my left ear. What a funny way of registering but the wisdom of our mentors seemed to work.
I began teaching at 19 and in high school and college. Wow! Was I very self-confident and demanding and idealistic.
Now, six seems ancient for now I am sixty! My four children are now living their lives according to their own plans what to do with their lives. It is worthy to note that all of them were educated in Ateneo de Davao for their pre-school years, when they were 5 and 6 years old. All of them began their grade one when they reached 7. Now, the eldest is turning 34, the next 32, the third 31 and the youngest 26. What an achievement for this 60 year old who sent them to college all alone. Their father did his share from afar- but with His Maker- so we had help from a spiritual pointof view.
Fellow 60 ers, I would be happy to meet you via the net. Let us exchange photos.
