Street Dancing in Kaamulan 2011 seen thru visitor's eyes . . .

Year in and year out, Kaamulan is celebrated. Kaamulan, after all, is a term in Bukidnon which means gathering. This year's gathering features Street Dancing which really draws tourists. Blogs at Fifty plus did have visitors - and What Visitors!

Through the initiative of BukidnononLine and Mindanaoan, the Very Important Visitors happen to be the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines, His Gracious and Beautiful Wife and Party.

It has been days and yet everything remain surreal. The Street Dancing experience, however, became extra special seen through the eyes of the extra special visitors. So, we saw the so-called Street Theatre and later the grand contest of the street dances in the capitol grounds. We also heard the results of the contests and we could not readily agree with the list. The judges did have a hard time deciding and this seems to be the case every time, every year. We happened to ask the visitors and it was consoling to hear that they enjoyed what they saw. This was enough good news.

So for what it is worth, I congratulate the dancers of every contingent who were there on the street and danced with all their heart. I happened to see them up close- since the visitors were given the conducive place in front of Bukidnon State University- all seated together with the President of BSU and his lovely wife. From this vantage point, the movements of the dancers were awe-inspiring. Their costumes, the floats, their dance steps, their charisma gave everyone the reasons why we keep on supporting Kaamulan, year in and year out. There was no doubt that the visitors also imbibed the over-all spirit of the festival.

Kaamulan 2011 is still being celebrated so while it is here, try to visit Malaybalay City, Province of Bukidnon. Maayad ha Pag-uma!

So many issues but do we know its details?

It is sad to note that there are many issues we can dwell on and make a stand but many prefer to turn a deaf ear because the details of each are not clear.

Take politics, we have the national and the local elections in the Philippines. We have the presidentiables, the senatoriables. Through ANC, we witness some fora and hear each of the presidentiables speak about their platforms. The so-called educated may not have a problem how to go about choosing candidates because they have other avenues to know more about their qualifications. How about those who are not reached by tv and other media? With the election now automated, is everyone aware how to go about it? So many questions, not many answers.

Then we have the local election. They say we have to wait until March to hear the local candidates move for their campaign. So let it be then.

With much talk about "El Nino" how is Bukidnon coping with it? We do not hear much about the province suffering from it expecially because all preparations are focused on the celoebration of Kaamulan. Kaamulan is a Bukidnon term which means celebration. Somehow, we are telling the world everything is fine because of Kaamulan. Is everything really fine in Bukidnon? So many questions, not many answers.

Malaybalayan leaves you with some queries: Are there issues you want clarified? Are you able to get your answers? Do you want to express some of these issues? Do you care at all about these issues being brought in the open?
