El Nino in some parts of the Philippines; yet floods in Brazil; extreme weather in USA; some rain in Malaybalay and other parts of Bukidnon

There are still many skeptics about Climate Change, Global Warming. So nature gives us the best proofs: El Nino in Northern and Central Luzon Philippines; some rain in Malaybalay and other parts of Bukidnon; floods in Brazil; extreme weather in USA. You just have to spend some time in front of the tv to know what is happening where and come out worrying about the real score as regards the "health" of our one earth.

Still everyone agrees that the heat is unbearable. Also, this feeling of unease is gnawing our consciences. Is the world as sick as its inhabitants? Are people getting more sick? Why do people just experience the so-called "mild stroke" without due notice?

Certainly, phenomena remind us what each one should contribute to catalyze the fear that seems to slowly but surely fill our consciousness. Now is the time.

Gun use, drug abuse, tendency to commit crimes, who will take the lead in protecting our kids?

While the academe spends more time dwelling on environmental issues like pollution, loss of biodiversity and climate change, the mothers are still worried how to protect their children from the temptations of gun use, drug abuse and tendency to go astray.

Headlines like "Seven boys charged over girl's gang rape", "Child Abuse Charges against two Americans" "Tribal leader slain over land dispute" "Executive accused of molesting minors" all published in Gold Star Daily greet us on an almost day to day or weekly basis and we heave a sigh, will there be more?

Parents and teachers never tire reminding their children and pupils/students respectively to be on guard. If possible, they should not stay beyond 9:00 in the evening. So, the more they stay at home, the safer for them. Young people should develop hobbies that will redirect their bountiful energies for the good of mankind.

Mothers, fathers, teachers, community leaders, spiritual advisers, any concerned person - let us join hands to protect our children.

On CLIMATE CHANGE Malaybalayan says . . .

This is the designated important issue every blogger on the occasion of blog action day must reflect on. Malaybalayan hastens to add, and every moment from now on. In fact if one is not optimistic about the mess the world is in because of man's negligence, it will be "open sesame" for flash floods, typhoons, hurricane, earthquake . . .

To avoid technical terms about climate change, let us focus on what is simple. One only has to become a better observer. Did you notice floods now come rushing in right to one's door? If not your personal experience, the tv brought our attention to Katrina in New Orleans and Ondoy-Pepeng heartbreaking episodes. The denuded mountains are blatant reminders of the "freedom" we are giving to the waters from higher levels. No roots get in the way when heavy rains come. So while you are asleep, the floods have their way and onwards they come in torrents and abundantly so, the current can wipe out skycrapers, crops, bridges, name it.

Climate change is a change so we can also change it to do us good but it will take every one of us and every moment of every day to compensate for the many years of abuse and exploitation.
