An attempt to find meaning when meaning seems lost

There is no room for passivity if the mission is to find meaning amidst the various scenarios that can blow one's minds. Imagine, a head torn from its usual place and wrapped to send a message to the family from whom the hostage takers want to exact 1.5 million pesos. Two evil deeds that are so inhumane for both families: the loved ones of Mark Singson who have to know through this ungodly act, that Mark's head has been desecrated to tell the family of Michael Tan their son will suffer the same fate if the ransom is not given.
In another scene, 57 hostages are taken by the so-called Perez group in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. Innocent victims of another evil deed by another group of evil men. Another news coverage explains the hostage taking emanated from conflict between families.
Similar incidents are multiplied all over the world and this leaves us asking, what is the meaning of all this cruelty? My humble attempt at giving meaning when meaning seems lost is tentative. This we will do by looking at man's capacity for evil versus his capacity for love. This is the constant struggle that haunts every person. In some instances, evil wins while in some, goodness wins. Then there is the influence accorded by more powerful forces that exploit the already volatile situation of the misguided. Why the heavens do not swallow these evildoers leave us cold. Yet, all of us have come to realize that the good day die young and judgment will come eventually.

Thus, to find meaning when meaning seems lost is only the preliminary setting towards vindication in God's time, not in man's. When it finally comes, no one can hide from the Hands of Justice which can only come from God, the Just Judge.
