It is an added function that I particularly acknowledge - that tv viewing has played for quite sometime now - it lulls me to sleep and when asleep, some of my waking moments, I reach out for the monitor, put it off and coninue sleeping. No wonder some scenes in my dream come from tv episodes.
So why do some experts say otherwise? Bedrooms should not have a tv set ,they advise. If possible, the bedroom, they say, is a place to sleep not view the tv. This is where the experts can share what they have thus far found through research but like any on-going quest, their expertise can be enriched by other data.
In the meantime, our sleeping time does not seem to last for eight hours as experts say we must do. This must be affected by one's age level and the other stresses that occupy the person up to the wee hours of the morning.
So opportunities that are conducive to sleeping - avail of it and sleep away.
