Heroes as cited in Teacherallherlife or Teacher's teacher, heroes are those who are willing to make sacrifices for the benefit of others. We hasten to add: the elderly are some of the heroes who rarely hear that they are.
The blues of the elderly are tantamount to the sacrifices they make that qualify them to become heroes:
* they keep up with the day's call to remain healthy. They start an herbal garden so others can make use of the plants.
* they clean the surrounding of the home because the children do not have the time to do so.
* they do not want to cause problems in the home so they take care of their upkeep the best they can.
* they are the usual stay at home "guard" while the children go about their schedules out of the home.
* they are the last ones to leave the home to make sure everything is locked.
The blows are the irreplaceable roles the elderly play that really make them the heroes:
* they have the wisdom that come with experience and age.
* they have the presence that makes the family intact and solid.
* they make the members of the family connected with the past and the present.
* they inspire the young of what can become of them when they will become the elderly.
* they grow old with grace so becoming elderly becomes part of life, inevitable but not necessarily hopeless.
This Heroes' Day, we would like the elderly to know they are never forgotten. They are our heroes who are just right there in our homes. Happy heroes' day!
