Hurricane Irene has come but is yet to come for New York, in the Philippines, it's Mina.

North Carolina already felt the force of Hurricane Irene while New York will feel its force winds on Sunday morning. Presently we see Pres. Obama at FEMA HQ and this sight must be comforting for the Americans. When he says the "storm is being monitored closely" and that the "government is prepared" - all covered by CNN,  it is a far cry from what other presidents say during calamities. Pres. Obama even says "it will be a long 72 hours" but at least, it will be a long time to prove  that when leaders are there to do really and truly do their jobs, even the most feared disaster-about-to-unleash in action is not all alone to show its power. Equally strong in its desire to do their best are the leaders who will use available equipments to save lives.

In the Philippines, typhoon Mina hits and all we see are people from Pag-asa  giving us updates. ANC coverage was used by CNN when it showed the people coping and somehow managing  - on their own? This is one strength we, Filipinos, have.  All the "blues" in nature and life can batter us but we manage to put up a brave front (blow?) and through it all, stand up and start all over again.

With hurricanes and other natural disasters, it is interesting to know that there are helps how to cope. We referred to the World of Psychology through Google and they come up with a number of tips how to cope with hurricanes emotionally. With Typhoon Mina (international code name, Mitag), it is bashing the Northern Luzon according to sources so how the people cope with this emotionally is not difficult to perceive. Yet as always, the Filipinos, look up for protection from God who is their strongest protector.
