According to the news, at least from Inside Edition, an 84 year-old lady driver hits Reese Witherspoon, the young and beautiful actress, who at the time she was hit was jogging!
This is one accident that hits not only Reese but the all elderly, men and women who have much to ponder and continuously ask: Why? This is to say if an elderly has to drive as part of her right then it should also be part of her responsibility to make sure her being an elderly is not a reason to inflict pain on others because she did not yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. This is also to say that there is indeed a need to find out if the lady driver, who is an elderly, 84 years old (take note 84!) has eye problem, is taking medicines that may be one factor for the mishap be allowed to drive on her own.
For Elderly Blues and Blows, this piece of news is bluer than blue! The victim may not be Reese but anytime and every time there is an accident where an elderly is involved, it is time to strengthen resolve to move about more carefully. Nobody is to blame but somebody has to think twice or thrice before one drives or do something where intense and clear thinking are demanded of you, the elderly. This is where what is blue can be a blow.
By blow is the part of an elderly who is inherently wiser and gentler because life has given the time to know better and protect more in any capacity. There is no judgment involved here just a gentle reminder of what can be improved to avoid such incident from happening again, as a driver, as a parent, as a neighbor.
Reese, we are happy you are now safe. We are also very touched when you were not bent on suing which is kind of you.
Fellow elderly lady-driver, please take care of yourself. If given another chance, drive with a companion for your protection. Be gentle with yourself . . .
