Elderly Week celeb for the filipino elderly so free fare, but only in Manila, why?

It is good to know that there is an week allotted for the elderly in the Philippines. According to DSWD secretary, Dinky Soliman, for the whole day free fares in LRT 1 and 2. Good but is the celebration and the free fare only for the elderly who lives in Manila and who can avail of free fares? Well, we know how high the fares are in Manila but as the secretary said herself it is not the amount but the thought that the elderly is acknowledged for the years they have contributed to society during their younger days. So how come we do not hear of its counterpart all over the country regardless of how the "free fare" be expressed?

The aforementioned scenario tells us once again how centralized they see the country. As though Philippines is mainly symbolized by Manila. It is now high time to make this very clear: the country is composed of Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. The elderly people come from all over the three main islands take note.

Perhaps we will see an improvement of this very soon. Secretary Soliman, you have lived in Bukidnon I gathered? or is it you have worked sometime in Mindanao? Whatever, we hope to feel that the elderly have to be acknowledged wherever the elderly is.
