For quite sometime now, Filipinos have grown weary with the news about Ex-President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. She is very sick but not sick enough according to sources. She is not allowed to leave the hospital only for the court to decide she must leave from a private hospital to a government-run one, Veterans Memorial Medical Hospital. So when we hear of David Beckham and LA Galaxy football players arrived in Manila this afternoon, what a news breather!
For us elderly, news is part of a person's life because we are still alive. However, we are saddened when some news makes us sick in the stomach because it seems unfair or hard to swallow. Take the GMA story: how can we put someone against the wall: literally frail, sick and sad yet hear rash words of unkindness: that she is not really sick but a put on. Although we can understand why many are mad rather than sympathetic because history made GMA one of the two female presidents who was a workaholic leader and sad to say fell prey to temptations to people around her who had so much to offer, even her was not unscathed. . . Even the reported "plot to harm GMA" is immediately called a hoax!
So here is Beckham in the Philippines! We, from the province, have to make do with what the television has to show. With all the stresses in life, we need news breather in the likes of a game between the Azkals and LA Galaxy. We hope their security is given much attention what with so many crimes happening usually charged to poverty or urgent need for cash.
Elderly blue: One family is very worried about the condition of a mother and wife. The problem is not going anywhere, what with so many cases still in the offing. Syria still has its problem with protesters. Iran was told to close its embassy in London! Turkey imposed sanctions on Syria for harming the protesters.Cain may withdraw Republican presidential bid due to extramarital scandal.
Elderly blow: Life always offers a "rainbow" sometime in the near or far future. The Bible says it well: The Truth shall set you free." We will always have problems of some kind until the reign of God comes. "Look well therefore to this day. Such is the salutation to the dawn."
