Life is really difficult to live with for half of it is death. Death, being a reality is always painful but all the more when it happens to the young. Today Whitney Houston died at 48 and at the prime of her life. We may not know her very well because she is a star but she has become part of our life because of her beautiful and soul-rending songs, "I will Always Love You" topping it all.
For us senior citizens and other elderly, death is still a reality we are never ready to meet, God forbid! We are aware though that death comes to anyone, very young, very old or just blossoming in her twenties or thirties or forties . . .
At the moment, allow me to just dwell on Whitney Houston's unexpected death. My memory brings me back to "The Bodyguard" movie which really made me "tingle" with excitement when Kevin Costner and her would try to stifle their feelings for each other and one time they had to "make love" and later accepted the difficult situation they were in. They said there were two endings of the movie: one a sad one for they never "lived happily ever after" while the other was a happy one when they got married and lived happily ever after. What I saw was "left hanging" for they were not seen married but they seemed to have compromised a lifestyle where they could be together. Of course it was only a movie. In real life we found out she was not totally happy amidst the fame and the wealth. It is really difficult to live in the limelight for whether we like it or not, Elderly Blues and Blows believes too that once you want to really be happy, we have to keep things simple and far from the glitter of the rich and the famous. RIP Whitney, truly we pray that now you can rest ibn peace with your God.
