A senior's perspective about rape, about crimes . . .

A day doesn't seem to be complete without a crime or two to color or end the day. In Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Philippines for example, crime took the form of rape. The story goes, the owner of a vehicle stations himself in front of the university and looks over the girls in the campus. Perhaps some faces of ladies catch his liking and begins to plan how to go about the evil deed. As the sad thing eventually happened, two ladies were finally trapped and were victimized by this sick person. The story went that the two freshman ladies were raped inside the vehicle of this married person with a daughter himself. Other versions say this is not the first time that he raped but what is not clear is why he remained free to do again what he seemed to have perfected to do.

The school where the two ladies study is trying to get into the bottom of this "satanic" deed and hopefully an indignation rally will be held anytime this week  so more people will know and join forces to overcome the power this person seems to possess.

This senior is now sharing a perspective about crimes and rape in this particular instance. Here goes: Life is becoming harder for most of us especially when we take into consideration the financial crisis that affects every sector of society. Crimes sometimes are done because of financial troubles but do you know others commit crimes because they do not have anything better to do? Others have so much money in their hands yet their attention is not on what they have but what they do not have and to top it all, do harm to the weak because of some evil viewpoint that others exist at their pleasure. They see the weak as objects they can enjoy at their whim. How this  person goes on living without any thought of his family, his daughter, his parents and relatives is precisely a very good example of what sin is, what happens when darkness takes hold of one's heart.

Before we feel that the world is a place where there is no more goodness, let us shift the perspective to something more hopeful. We still have goodness in the midst of all this heinous crime. Good always overcomes the bad. We will not allow one evil person take away from the goodness that has been planted in every person's heart. You and I are all that can break the spell that is sometimes blighted by demonic wind. Let us believe that the presence of the Angelic good is always in the foreground and background of humanity. Amen.
