Elderly blue scene: an elderly woman was talking to a tarpaulin bearing the photos of newly ordained deacons. It made me think the elderly lady had the signs of being left alone wondering on the street; some members of the family would really literally disown their own elderly mother or relatives consequently allowing the poor elderly lady/man to fend for herself/himself. What a blue scene . . .
Elderly women are the first ones you see very early in the market, making a living: some are busy arranging their wares, it may be vegetables repacked to earn more or making juice to be sold later in the day especially when the heat is high. Elderly men can also be seen selling anything to earn something: firewood, fruits or chicken that he even fed with much feed hoping to make it appear healthy and heavy!
The elderly persons have learned early enough that their status is not enough reason to feel helpless andhopeless. Others may have given up but many remain fighters and survivors.
Elderly blow scene: Since the young ones are no longer ready to give up their seats for in fact they are not expected to, so the elderly persons accept this latest trend and literally stand in the middle of a bus and hold on to the seats while the bus goes through long curves and highways. They somehow manage 3 to 4 hour standing bouts!
So this is the present challenge posed on the elderly persons and senior citizens: Avail of the 20 percent discounts where it can be availed of and with it also is the added push not to feel low when you have to be on your own. Our children are there to help but they too have to grow up and when their time comes become elderly themselves. We just experienced it earlier than them. So smile whatever stage you are in. It is great to be a senior citizen and an elderly!!!
