Couple commits suicide due to financial desperation, why?

In Italy, the news came to us that a couple Ana Maria and Romeo committed suicide due to financial desperation. Both are senior citizens and so this news hits me like direct to my heart. The news continued that someone heard the sad news and this person committed suicide too. Why?

These sad scenarios are not isolated cases because here in the Philippines, the ones who are showing desperation are the young ones. A lady student committed suicide when she was told to file a leave of absence since she still had balance worth nine thousand pesos plus. She wrote a suicide note to ask forgiveness from her loved ones. Other suicide cases revealed the same tone of desperation maybe because they cannot foresee a better future.

As an elderly and senior citizen myself and a soon-to-retire employee, these data make me sad. I would like to believe that our respective families should take care of each other. We should be vigilant in observing the moods of our elderly parents. Make sure you do not leave your parents especially if they are widows to stay alone all the time.  While we like to be left on our own devices, it is still better to have a companion or two once in a while.

Suicide seems to be seen now as an easy way to escape from something very painful to address or overcome. This is one instance when one's faith plays a very important role in decision-making. Let us pray for each other more particularly when someone is too shy to share his or her problems. Certainly we can empathize if we are sensitive enough. To Ana Maria and Romeo and others who have decided to end their lives, we pray for you and wherever you are, please help those who are in the same dilemma you were in and somehow give them the way to go beyond the present hurdle and think that something better is just around the corner sometime in the near future. May you rest in peace.
