It is not an exaggeration to say that election time is a unique opportunity to assess what citizens will decide for their future. In the Philippines, many changes seem to take place for election 2013. Take the campaign period where this elderly has become involved due to her children who have become involved with the campaign of some national and local politicians. This rare occasion gives this senior citizen a closer look at what election time is if you have the capability to post posters and talk to voters.
In our case, there was no vote buying just plain positioning of posters in strategic places and giving out pocket calendars, leaflets that bear the politician's profile, t-shirts if available and smaller versions of posters. We just flt humbled that while there were those who were blatant in asking if there was some cash, the majority were very vocal in saying whether we give calendars, posters or t-shirts or not, they have decided to vote for our senatoriables and local leaders. It was a nice feeling to learn that the citizens are becoming more matured and have decided to vote according to their choices.
Fellow elderly and senior citizens we can now smile with contentment that all our hard labor at educating the young to become the formators of their future are beginning to bear fruit.
Election time should be everybody's concern regardless of status and age.
