The good part about the whole thing of planning to run as president of a faculty association is that it is only a plan. For the sake however of "thinking through" let us entertain the pros and cons for whatever it can help other candidates who are in the same dilemma.
Pros:
1) It is an opportunity to serve one's colleagues at a time when the community may need another persona as leader-follower;
2) It i s another venue where all colleges can rally towards one vision of truly becoming a premier learning institution in the education, humanities, sciences and the arts;
3) It is an empowerment of workers to be heard so that differences can be catalyzed and strengthen where there are similaries of goals and objectives; and
4) It stresses the "Magis" of every facet of service in action inside and outside the campus.
Cons:
1) It is the beginning of disappointment when you see for yourself fair-weather friends;
2) It marks the realization that you cannot please everyone especially those you already know you are at odds because of basic character differences;
3) It is the possibility of being negated by some people who are not your type in the first place; and
4) It is the difficult task of moving on if not elected.
So Malaybalayan, if you can handle both the pros and cons and hold your head up high: go girl, go!
